Miss Cookas Bakes a Bun!

I’ve been absent from my blog for the last 13 weeks, and I am sorry for this. But, you see, I have been busy growing a little miracle. That’s right.

I am currently 13 weeks and 3 days pregnant, and I couldn’t be more pleased.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with my blog, I encourage you to go back and read it from the beginning. Trying to conceive, for me, has been such an exciting journey. And it’s one that I’ve wanted to share with everyone out there, including those who might find themselves wading through the business of baby making.

So, for those of you who are interested, here is the official story of how baby C came to be in the belly.

We conceived naturally on the second try. I will say here and now: I was not expecting this. I was hopeful that things might move a little quicker than the expected 6 month average but, being 30 years old, I imagined it would take the full 6 months or longer.

I had been a tiny bit worried. What if my eggs said, ‘Look Miss Cookas, we’re just not into this whole baby thing.’ Or what if Mister C’s swimmers were too busy getting to know each other in the tubes, instead of focusing on the grand plan? I just wasn’t sure. I’d never made a baby before. How could I know what was to come?

When month one came to an end with a negative test result, I was a little sad. It was all so new and exciting. I’d been symptom spotting like an absolute crazy woman and even though there was not a great deal indicating that I was pregnant, I stayed hopeful. Until I got my period.

Round two was a little different. By this point, I was still symptom spotting, but with a little less enthusiasm. I had come to realise that any possible pregnancy symptoms really could just be an impending period. Plus, I was a little over Doctor Google by that stage.

Towards the end of my cycle, I started to get an annoying headache. And my boobs: were they actually feeling tender this month? Unusual for me, but perhaps my body was just finally going back to normal after being on the pill for so long. I noticed a slight rash on my chest, and also noticed some of the muscles in my back and legs were twitching every now and then. But really, those could have been things that happened every month that I just never noticed.

Then… I peed on a stick. 4 sticks actually. It was unmistakable. Baby C was on board.

    • Thanks Ms Isabella! I know, very exciting! It’s funny, I just completely froze when it came time to share the news: hence the long break! For some reason, I didn’t even want to let my self believe that bubs was sticking around until after 12 weeks, just to avoid the heartache if I’d lost it along the way! I’m looking forward to sharing our journeys: I think our due dates must be about half a week apart! Very cool. xx

      • I was thinking the same thing about our dates! It’s pretty great to be able to read along with someone going through (basically) the same stuff at the same time…
